verified by Psychology Today

I have obtained a Masters of Arts degree in Marriage and family Counseling as well as School counseling from the Our Lady of Holy Cross College. I am certified by the National Board of Certified Counseling (NCC#322166), and the Licensing Board for Louisiana Professional Counselors (LPC#5646). I am a member of the American Counseling Association, Louisiana Counseling Association, Chi Sigma Iota Honors Counseling Society, American Association for Marriage and Family therapy and the Louisiana Association for Marriage and Family therapy.

I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, family conflict, anger management, self-esteem, substance abuse, ADHD, behavioral problems, personality disorders, Problems with addiction and co-occuring disorders as well as many other problems and concerns. I have counseled individuals of all ages but typically work with adolescents, adults, families, and couples. I have experience in many different settings including Inpatient, Intensive outpatient programs and counseling in groups and individually. I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is what enables them to get the most out of therapy and reach personal goals. I consider my counseling style to be relaxed and informal, believing that the client  and myself are working together to create a more satisfying and fulfilling life for the client.

My theoretical approach is Ecclectic. I use aspects of Reality therapy,  cognitive-behavioral therapy and Dialectical behavior therapy depending on what is called for at the tiime and for the individual. I believe people are searching for meaning and purpose in their lives trying to fulfill certain needs, when they are unable to fulfill these needs it leads to the symptoms of anxiety, depression and/or other maladaptive behaviors. Additionally, I believe in the importance of the relationship between our thoughts, behaviors, and emotions, as well as, identifying and changing the debilitating patterns they can cause.
