We have experience counseling individuals of all ages, but typically work with adolescents, adults, families, and couples.
We counsel in many different settings including inpatient, intensive outpatient programs and counseling in groups and individually. We believe that the relationship between therapist and client is what enables them to get the most out of therapy and reach personal goals. Dawn's counseling style to be relaxed and informal, knowing that the client and myself are working together to create a more satisfying and fulfilling life for our clients.
Dawn's theoretical approach is Ecclectic. She uses aspects of reality therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy - depending on what is called for at the time and for the individual. We believe people are searching for meaning and purpose in their lives trying to fulfill certain needs, when they are unable to fulfill these needs it leads to the symptoms of anxiety, depression and/or other maladaptive behaviors.
Additionally, We believe in the importance of the relationship between our thoughts, behaviors, and emotions, as well as, identifying and changing the debilitating patterns they can cause.
